OUR BOATS

The Marine and Coastguard Agency license all our vessels and are crewed by trained volunteers. We operate the boats for Education, History and Wild LifeCruises including school trips. Our largest vessel, Voyager, is an ideal venue for meetings, presentations, training and social events. Light refreshments can be provided on board to suit a range of budgets or you can do it yourself.

We currently have three passenger vessels which are moored opposite the Stables Restaurant, Kirkintilloch. By chartering one of our vessels you will not only havea great experience but you will be assisting us in preserving the Lowland Canals and other projects.

Our first big boat was an old Clyde passenger ferry which we restored and renamed "Ferry Queen".  She was our flagship for many years.  We saved her from the scrapyard and she repaid us by saving the canal. The canal's restoration means that she will return to the Clyde.

"Janet Telford" which was designed and built by apprentices at Telford College of Further Education, Edinburgh and was launched in June 1982. She was later modified and re-furbished by R.N. Personnell at Rosyth in the spring of 1988. Originally red in colour Janet telford was repainted in the current blue to match the other boats in our group in 2005. She is currently able to carry 12 passengers and is ideal for small group outings. Janet Telford
Gypsy princess "Gipsy Princess"which has been with the Society since 1990. This boat was built by Steel Craft, Old Northants and initially sailed around the Auchinstarry Area in her original red lead colour. She was launched onto the Forth and Clyde canal on 26 April 1990 by Councillor Cathie Craigie after being refurbished and having alteration carried out to her cabin area which created more covered seating. She is currently able to carry 36 passengers.
"Voyager" the newest of the society boats was launched into the Forth and Clyde Canal at the Hillhead Basin, Kirkintilloch in June 2005. Being larger both internally and externally Voyager is able to carry up to 55 passengers. Voyager

We operate all our boats for public trips and as charter vessels. Cruises, with picnics or barbecues on board, are popular with both members and non-members. For more information in relation to chartering one of our boats go to our CONTACTS PAGE.
