CREW TRAINING Completed until 2011 |
GOT AN INTEREST IN THE CANAL OR CANAL BOATS . Interested in the canal or the boats, got some free time?. Why not come and join us and do some crew training and help to sail the boats on our trips. Come along to our Wednesday nights sessions commencing 2011 at 7.30p.m. .This training does not just involve sailing and using ropes, teas/coffees often have to be made on our trips as well as other cleaning and maintenance work. Why not pop along some night to our moorings at the Stables near Kirkintilloch? You might enjoy it! ALL MEMBERS TO NOTE ---- On the 1st Wednesday of each month formal training will be suspended. The night will be a members get together with a short sail on the canal commencing at 7.30pm.(Tea or coffee will be available) |

*****30th Anniversary -- Celebration Dinner***** Saturday 30 October 2010 (7pm for 7.30pm.) To celebrate our 30th Anniversary, the Society will be holding a Celebration Dinner at the Smiths Hotel, David Donnely Place, Kirkintilloch. Keynote speakers are Mr George Ballinger, Mr Guthrie Hutton and Mr Tom Lawton , with the presentation of highlights from a new DVD. Tickets costing £20.00 can be obtained from J. Kirkintilloch Canal Festival. Boat trips from the pontoon at Townhead Bridge, Kirkintilloch form 1230hrs until 4.30pm |
Saturday 11 September |
East Dunbartonshire Open Doors. Boat trips in the Southbank Marina, Kirkintilloch from 11am until 3.30pm. Society Office will be open with displays within from 10am until 3pm |
Saturday 18th September |
Big Man Festival at the Top Lock Maryhill. Boat trips and other activities at this location. |
Wednesday 22 September |
"UN10N" Celebrations. Join Gypsy Princess or Janet Telford on their way to join the get together to celebrate 10years since the re-opening of the Union Canal. The boats will leave the Stables at 09.30am and Kirkintilloch Marina at 10.00am and should arrive at the Falkirk Wheel about 1.00pm. The boats will then go up the Falkirk Wheel about 2.00pm and stop at the moorings at Falkirk High Railway Station for passengers at about 3.00pm, then sail to Linlithgow arriving about 6.30pm where they will moor up for the night. This is a one way trip and a packed lunch is suggested. Cost will be £10 per person for the full day or £5 for a half day trip. |
Thursday 23 September |
"UN10N" Celebrations. Continuing the above trip from Linlithgow to Edinburgh Quay. The boats will leave Linlithgow at 9.00am. Arrival at Edinburgh Quay at about 6.30pm. This is again a one way trip and packed lunch is suggested. Cost will be £10 per person for this trip. |
Friday 24 September |
"UN10N" Celebrations. The boats will remain at the Edinbugh Quays. From 6pm there will be celebrations includinga BBQ and music. Tickets are required for the BBQ and names to Tom Lawton on 7721620. |
Saturday 25th September |
"UN10N" Celebrations. Boats will leave Edinburgh Quays at 9am for Linlithgow. Expected arrival time at Linlithgow is about 6pm. There will be celebrations there which include a Hog Roast for which tickets are required. Again contact Tom Lawton. There will be entertainment from some Jazz Musicians. Cost for this trip will be £10.(Hog Roast not included on trip cost) |
Sunday 26th September |
"UN10N" Celebrations. Boats will leave Linlithgow at 9am prompt for the Falkirk Wheel, expected arrival at the Wheel at about 1pm. Again various celebrations will take place and a buffet will be served late in the afternoon. Cost for this trip will be £5. |
